Knowshon was born on July 16, 1987 and grew up in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.  He led his high school football team to three state championships at Middletown High School South.  In his senior season he rushed 185 times for 1,808 yards and 43 touchdowns in only 10 games!

Moreno’s outstanding prep performance earned him the rank of #10 running back and #73 prospect according to Rivals.com and #9 running back according to Scout.com.  He was highly recruited by Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Florida but in the end signed his letter of intent to The University of Georgia.

In 2006, Moreno was redshirted but came back ready to play in 2007 as a redshirt freshman.  Thomas Brown and Moreno split carries as the starting running back for the season opener verses Oklahoma State.

Moreno had a solid debut racking up 70 yards on 20 rushes with 2 catches for 51 yards helping his team with a 35-14 win.

In the second game verses South Carolina Moreno saw most of the touches with 14 rushes for 104 yards in the 12-16 loss.  In the next week against Western Carolina he scored his first collegiate touchdown, and ran for 157 yards in a blow out 45-16 win.

In the fourth game Moreno earned the starting role by himself and racked up 157 yards in a 20-17 win over Vanderbilt.

In the fifth week against the Florida Gators, he rushed for 188 yards and 3 touchdowns on 33 touches.  In the sixth week, Moreno joined the ranks of the great Georgia tailback Herschel Walker as the only running back to rush for over 100 yards in five straight games as he rushed for 124 yards on 22 carries in a win over the Kentucky Wildcats.

Moreno ended his redshirt freshman year with 1,334 yards on 248 carries for 14 touchdowns.

He also caught 20 receptions for 253 yards.   Moreno was named the SEC Freshman of the Week three times and SEC Offensive Player of the Week once.   He was also named onto the all-SEC first team and was the unanimous SEC Freshman of the Year.

Knowshon Moreno was a Heisman Trophy favorite going into his sophomore season. In his season opener he rushed for 59 yards on 8 carries for 3 touchdowns and caught two passes for 53 yards in the 45-21 win over Georgia Southern.

In the second game of the season Moreno rushed 18 times for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns against Central Michigan University in a 56-17 win. In the SEC opener against South Carolina, Moreno rushed for 79 yards on 20 carries and a TD in the 14-7 victory. In the fourth game, Moreno led the Bulldogs with 149 yards and two TD’s on 23 carries over Arizona State.

The Georgia Bulldog’s undefeated record was broken in a 41-30 loss to Alabama where Moreno was held to 34 yards on 9 carries with one TD. Moreno rebounded in the 26-14 win over Tennessee with 101 yards on 27 carries.

In the next week, Georgia defeated Vanderbilt 24-14 to improve their record to 6-1.  Moreno rushed 23 times for a season-high 172 yards and a touchdown.  In the eight game, The Bulldogs won again in the 52-38 victory over LSU with Moreno rushing for 163 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
Georgia suffered their second conference loss in a 49-10 bout against Florida, in which Moreno was held to 65 yards on 17 carries.

In the Capital One Bowl Game  on January 1, 2009, Georgian defeated Michigan State University 24-12.  Knowshon Moreno rushed 23 times for 62 yards and made 6 receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown.
The 2008 season ended for Knowshon Moreno racking up 1,792 yards of total offense (1,400 rushing on 250 carries and 392 yards on 33 receptions) and scored 18 touchdowns (16 rushing, 2 receiving). He was named the team’s offensive MVP.

On January 7, 2009, Knowshon Moreno declared himself eligible for the NFL draft.
